Bouncing ball and “12 Principles of Animation”

In small ball motion, I think it is very important to apply the following principles.

‘Squash and Stretch’ As the ball falls from a high point, it deforms along its trajectory and is squeezed when it hits the ground.

‘Slow in and slow out’ The ball falls faster and bounces slower.

‘Timing’ Due to gravity, the ball’s bounce height becomes smaller and the cycle time becomes shorter and shorter.

These principles control whether the animation is “realist style” or “animation style”.

I wanted to create a ball that could think for itself, so at the beginning of the animation, I included the ball “watching” action.

The same applies to “braking” before the ball is about to fall from the height.

In the final animation, I think there are still some shortcomings: First, I tried to make a “Disney-style” motion, but it still turns into a realistic motion. Second, the second ball is moving too slowly after past the purple square. It seems a little strange, I think it might be better to go faster.
