Week 3: Storyboard and Character design
Storyboard
This week I’m mainly in charge of storyboards, I first drew a version of my idea (just a very random draft), which is convenient for me and my team members to discuss.

This is just a draft, after discussion with my group members we have revised a lot of things and I will refine it next.
About the Storyboard, I have summarised the following issues:
- Too many close up views, this might expose a lot of problems with the model.
- The rhythm was not very good. It may be difficult to understand the story I am trying to tell by just looking at the storyboard.
There were so many changes needed that we decided to use live shots instead of storyboards, although this may not be quite the norm as there are many animations that cannot be filmed for reference
We simulated the filming of our animated short film, with members of the group playing the roles because we thought it would help to define the scenes for the animation
Everyone is not a professional actor or photographer, but I’m still satisfied because I already have a rough idea of what our project will look like
Character design
I designed the character of the old man in our short film. First I looked up some references.
Since the whole animation takes place in the main character’s house, it would be appropriate to wear loungewear

Due to the reversal of the plot later on, this character cannot be too kind, so I designed him like a serious person.
